Prairienet Community Network
Prairienet, one of the earliest and most successful community networks in the world, was founded in 1993 as a Free-Net. A member- and donation-supported community information network for Champaign-Urbana and the surrounding East-Central Illinois region, Prairienet is operated by the Graduate School of Library and Information Science at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
